Nothing is more important than the responsible stewardship of your tax dollars. A top priority for me will be to continue to audit City taxes to confirm that they are used legally and for their intended purposes. I will also continue to relentlessly investigate allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse.
Transparency
The City of Oakland has suffered structural budget deficits in recent years. Every Oaklander deserves to know how their tax dollars are being spent, and what they get from that spending. I’ll demand the City utilize data-driven performance and financial metrics for improved transparency and responsible decision-making.
Safe Neighborhoods & Quality of Life
I’ll proactively engage residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders to identify and audit areas that matter most to the public, like public safety and other community services. Timely, effective performance audits help protect our City’s fiscal health while ensuring tax dollars are properly spent.
